BDO participated in the joint simultaneous, nationwide event of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).

The whole day affair is an event with different venue, one in at the POEA’s head office in Ortigas Ave., Mandaluyong City and the other at SM Mall of Asia Music Hall where the Recognition of Partner Local Govèrnment Units and Social Partners awarding was held.

OFWs Great Staunch Supporter

As a Top Remmitance Bank for years now, BDO has claimed the biggest share of remittance being coursed through the bank by our modern day heroes, allowing them to send money through its partners and remittance subsidiary. With products like the BDO Kabayan Savings Account and BDO Remit Cash Card, it shows how BDO’s passion to provide service beyond what is traditional remittance is driven by the important contribution of Filipinos working abroad to the economy.

BDO has always emphasized the importance of saving to our OFWs and showed them the ease of sending money from abroad through their products and services.

During the program, visiting OFW were treated to various poduct talks to give
them a better understanding of the different products and services that the Bank offers. These talks aim to show the that their hard work will not be for naught and that BDO will always have their unmatched support.

“Mr. BDO”

One of the highlight of the event is the appearance of Senior Assistant Vice President Vicente“Teteng” Lopez, popularly known as “Mr. BDO”.

He who has worked also in different countries, a seasoned OFW, he knows how hard it is to work abroad and give emphasis to the importance of savings. He imparted how it’s not easy to work abroad and be away from your family. It’s a sacrifice. He said that if you ever feel alone and beset with loneliness, the best thing to do is just smile.

The continued growth of our gross domestic product is attributed because of the remittances from overseas Filipino workers. As long as there are OFW and as long as BDO continues to support them then our country’s economy growth will be maintained.

During the celebration of Migrant Workers’ Day, BDO Unibank along with others was given a special recognition as Social Partners by OWWA.
