The first time I saw Jerald Napoles, he was playing as Tolits in a theater play Rak of Aegis, that was nine years ago. I like his brand of comedic acting and its still true up to this time. He is really funny in a different sort of way. Kinda serious but when he delivers his line that’s where the funny part comes off.
Last week, we have an intimate conversation with him over good food at Lolas Cafe. Together with the media, Jerald or Je gave updates on n his latest series this time with Prime Video, Comedy Island Philippines.
A hybrid between scripted and unscripted, the six part series is unique and unpredictable and has been produced by Amazon Studio in collaboration with BASE Entertainment Asia.
Comedy Island Philippines features seven comedians, actors, and social media celebrities—Carlo Aquino, Rufa Mae Quinto, Andrea Brillantes, Jerald Napoles, Cai Cortez, Awra Briguela, Justine Luzares, and Drew Arellano—who embark on a hilarious adventure when they are washed upon the shore of the mysterious Tawa-Tawa Island, which resurfaces after 100 years to commence the fictional “Centennial Games.” They soon find themselves unwitting competitors in these games, and must improvise to survive and escape the island. Pitted against each other in unscripted improvisational scenarios, the celebrities pull out all stops to bring laughter and entertainment to the island’s citizens, in order to win the most votes and a chance to go back home.
Since Jerald won’t be able to attend the press conference this week, he gamely discussed about the CIP with the press and bloggers.
He started off about the show and how they will be playing as themselves. The celebrities and influencers will be in a new concept of show. As Je saw his co stars he wonders how the show will go on, for him doing comedy is no problem. He is doing that kind of thing all the time but seeing Carlo Aquino and Andrea Brillantes he doesnt know what the set up will but he is happy that this new concept of show is exciting.

As the title suggest, they were secluded in an island outside the country. Here the story will run and how it will be a semi reality show and semi scripted. It will be an improved comedy series where Jerald thrived the most.
Jerald was in awe how the series is a very big production. The biggest in his life he said. He also gets to know more about his co stars and even amazed that he will get to act beside Justine Luzares. All in all he said that viewers will highly anticipate the series.
But one thing is for sure, Jerald Napoles’ presence on the Comedy Island Philippines adds to the show’s comedic appeal. With his talent for making people laugh, he brings energy and laughter to the sketches and performances.
