Manila Water’s 2.5 MWp Solar Project, recognized as the largest consolidated solar installation in the Philippine water sector, was named 2nd Runner-up in the On-Grid Self-Consumption Category under the ASEAN Renewable Energy Project Awards.

Meanwhile, MWPV-Cebu secured 1st Runner-up in the Energy Management in Buildings and Industries – Small & Medium Industries Category under the ASEAN Energy Efficiency and Conservation Best Practices Awards.

These recognitions underscore Manila Water’s growing contribution to the clean energy transition and demonstrate how sustainable energy solutions can create value beyond the traditional boundaries of the water sector.

“Water is at the heart of what we do, but our responsibility extends beyond water. The clean energy transition is a long journey, and Manila Water is proud to contribute to shaping the country’s energy landscape toward a cleaner, more efficient, and more sustainable future,” said Dr. King Verzola, Manila Water Energy Director.

The ASEAN Energy Awards, organized by the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), is one of Southeast Asia’s premier platforms recognizing excellence in renewable energy, energy efficiency and conservation, and sustainable energy management. The awards promote innovation, best practices, and collaboration among ASEAN Member States in advancing the region’s energy transition.

The 2026 awarding ceremony was held on 7 October 2026 at the Museo del Galeón in Manila, Philippines, in conjunction with the 44th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meeting (AMEM) and the 26th ASEAN Energy Business Forum (AEBF-26).

The ASEAN honors build on earlier recognitions received by Manila Water and its operating units in the Philippines, including awards from the Department of Energy for renewable energy and energy efficiency initiatives.

“These awards are a strong testament to Manila Water’s Vision of becoming a global leader in providing quality water and environmental services supportive of sustainable development, and our Mission to deliver world-class services tailored to the needs of the communities we serve through sustainable solutions and purpose-driven, empowered, and innovative teams,” said Arnold Mortera, Manila Water Chief Operating Officer for East Zone.

From water to energy, Manila Water continues to advance solutions that create lasting value for customers, communities, and the environment. These efforts support the company’s broader mission of building resilient and sustainable operations as it prepares for future climate challenges, including the potential impacts of a strong El Niño.
