The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI), through its social responsibility arm, BPI Foundation (BPIF), brought leadership and learning together at Far Eastern University (FEU), where BPI President and CEO TG Limcaoco engaged hundreds of students in a candid conversation on leadership, innovation, and creating meaningful impact.

Speaking before the FEU community, TG Limcaoco, BPI President and CEO, challenges students to aspire for more, embrace continuous learning, and create positive impact through leadership and service

At the university’s Unmasked Talk Series on September 30, Limcaoco underscored the importance of having big aspirations and leading with BPI’s NICE values: Nurturing, Integrity, Customer Obsession, and Excellence. He also encouraged more than 300 students, faculty, and university leaders students to pursue innovation with purpose, remain committed to continuous learning, and create meaningful impact wherever they choose to lead.

“Leadership begins with aspiration, with setting a goal. Followed by inspiration, which comes when people understand what we are trying to achieve and the role each person plays. And just as important is appreciation. People will not care for a leader unless they know that leader cares for them,” said Limcaoco.

The leadership talk formed part of a day-long engagement between BPI and FEU, highlighting the growing partnership between the two institutions, which has expanded from financial literacy and faculty development initiatives to include leadership conversations that connect students with industry leaders.

As part of their partnership, BPIF and FEU are strengthening financial literacy through FinEd Unboxed, a program designed to build financial capability across diverse sectors, including students, educators, local government units, marginalized communities, and vulnerable groups. More than 200 FEU students, faculty members, instructors, and university associates took part in engaging learning sessions that combined practical exercises with real-world insights on saving, debt management, insurance, investments, retirement planning, and fraud and scam prevention.

The partnership also introduced a Train-the-Trainers component, equipping student leaders and volunteer faculty members with the knowledge and confidence to become financial education resource speakers. Through their participation, these advocates will help deliver financial wellness sessions to partner communities, enabling the program to reach more Filipinos. Complementing these efforts, over 700 students will receive financial education booklets to enhance their understanding of key financial concepts and foster long-term financial well-being.

FEU students participate in BPIF’s FinEd Unboxed session, designed to equip young people with the knowledge and confidence to navigate their financial journeys.

FEU is BPIF’s third partner school for 2026 and 10th partner school since 2025, reflecting the Foundation’s continuing efforts to expand its footprint among educational institutions and build partnerships that can create sustained opportunities for learning and financial inclusion. As part of its commitment, BPIF is also looking to further expand its engagement across the FEU network, with ongoing discussions and plans to bring the Foundation’s financial literacy program to FEU Alabang, FEU Diliman, and FEU Pampanga.

The partnership between BPIF and FEU, established on May 6, 2026, demonstrates how a collaboration can develop over time—from an initial financial education engagement, to faculty capacity-building, to leadership dialogue, and potentially to a broader network of campuses and communities.

For BPIF, financial inclusion is not simply about expanding access to financial products and services. It is also about helping people develop the capabilities to understand those services, make informed choices, and take greater control of their financial futures.

That is why educators remain at the center of the partnership. By equipping teachers and instructors alongside students, the program can help ensure that financial education does not end when a workshop does. It can continue in classrooms, conversations, and everyday decisions—and potentially reach even more young people over time.

“Financial inclusion becomes more meaningful when people have the knowledge and confidence to make financial decisions for themselves,” said Reginald Andal, BPIF Executive Director. “Through our partnerships with schools, we create spaces where we can share knowledge, inspire young people, promote financial literacy, and bring our leaders closer to the communities we serve.”

As of September 2026, BPIF’s financial education sessions for various institutions and sectoral groups have reached more than 55,000 individuals. With FinEd Unboxed as part of this broader partnership, BPIF and FEU are creating opportunities for knowledge to be shared among students, educators, and leaders, while laying the groundwork for financial education to reach more people across the FEU network.

The partnership reflects a shared opportunity to help young Filipinos build stronger financial futures—one educator, student, campus, and community at a time.
