Teachers play an indispensable role in shaping future generations, empowering communities, and driving national progress.

EastWest Brand Ambassador Donny Pangilinan serenaded teachers at the Department of Education’s 2026 National Teachers Day

Recognizing the impact educators make every day, EastWest Rural Bank (EWRB) continues to deepen its support for Filipino teachers through year-round programs focused on health, wellness, financial empowerment, and professional well-being.
EWRB reinforced this commitment with its partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) during the month-long celebration of National Teachers’ Month, culminating in the recent National Teachers’ Day gathering at the Smart Araneta Coliseum attended by thousands of educators from across the country.

As one of DepEd’s long-standing partners, EWRB participated in key National Teachers’ Month activities, creating memorable experiences that celebrated and recognized educators’ contributions to nation-building. During the culminating event, teachers enjoyed special activities, raffle opportunities, and surprise rewards, including cash prizes awarded by the Bank as a gesture of appreciation for their dedication and service.

Adding excitement to the celebration was a special performance by actor, singer, and EastWest brand ambassador Donny Pangilinan, whose appearance energized the audience and helped make the occasion even more memorable for participating educators.
“Teachers bring life to dreams and help shape the future of our nation. Through every lesson, every act of guidance, and every sacrifice, they inspire young lives and create brighter futures,” said Sheila Marasigan-Bajado, President of EastWest Rural Bank. “With our partnership with DepEd, we hope to give back to educators in meaningful ways. Beyond the celebrations, we remain committed to helping teachers thrive through programs that support their health, financial wellness, and overall well-being.”

National Teachers’ Month was only one part of EWRB’s broader advocacy for educators. Earlier celebrations in Cagayan de Oro and Tacloban brought together thousands of teachers through engaging activities, including wellness-focused Zumba sessions under the Bank’s Magenta Moves program, as well as raffle draws that awarded brand-new motorcycles and cash prizes.

A year-round commitment to educators

For EWRB, supporting teachers extends well beyond National Teachers’ Month.
The Bank works closely with DepEd on programs at the grassroots level to promote teacher wellness, financial literacy, learner protection, and school readiness, reflecting its belief that empowering educators helps create better outcomes for learners and communities.

EWRB donated various teaching supplies to Flaviano T. Deocampo Sr. Elementary School in Koronadal City

Most recently, the Bank donated school supplies to Flaviano T. Deocampo Sr. Elementary School in Koronadal City to help address the school’s daily instructional and administrative printing requirements.

EWRB also donated 100 metal detectors to DepEd Region 11 in support of the Department’s nationwide school safety and security measures, helping create safer learning environments for both educators and students.

Magenta Moves, Annual Physical Test for teachers, and financial empowerment program GuroWAIS

EWRB also brings Magenta Moves, a wellness program that encourages healthy and active lifestyles among educators. The Bank also conducts its Annual Physical Test (APT) for Teachers, providing health consultations and mobile medical services that make preventive healthcare more accessible to teachers.
To help strengthen financial well-being, EWRB also runs GuroWAIS, a financial literacy program that equips teachers with practical money management skills and supports long-term financial security.
To further support educators’ financial goals, EWRB offers a Teachers’ Salary Loan specifically designed for teachers, providing access to financing solutions with flexible repayment options and competitive rates.
“Our support reflects a long-standing commitment to educator well-being,” Marasigan-Bajado added. “Through programs that promote health, financial wellness, and community engagement, we hope to help teachers feel valued, supported, and empowered as they continue shaping the future of Filipino learners.”
As a community-focused bank, EWRB believes that investing in teachers is one of the most meaningful ways to create lasting impact. By supporting educators throughout the year, the Bank continues to help strengthen the communities they serve and the generations they inspire.
