Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, has once again set a new benchmark for online shopping with its annual 9.9 Super Shopping Day after recording a 3 times uplift in orders compared to the average day. The e-commerce platform also saw a whopping 3 million items sold within just the first two hours, with the highest order volumes coming from Metro Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal.

Increased Demand for Video and Livestream Shopping

The shift towards video shopping underscores the rising demand for more interactive and creative content beyond just a transactional experience, be it through product demonstrations, personalized recommendations, or content that entertains while informing, for a more rewarding shopping experience.

Correspondingly, this interactive feature has rapidly garnered traction among online shoppers where the 9.9 sale saw a 6 times uplift in Shopee Video orders and a 2 times uplift in new videos uploaded as both buyers and sellers look for more interactive ways to connect. Additionally, total views of Shopee Video content surged 3 fold, while orders generated through Shopee affiliates using the rapidly-growing short form content feature increased 9 times.

Direct interactions and real-time, on-demand product demonstrations also continue to appeal to shoppers as Shopee Live recorded a 3.4 times uplift in orders, together with a 9 times uplift in orders from affiliates on Shopee Live.

Fashion Sales Soar

As shoppers flocked to the platform to score exceptional deals, Shopee’s fashion purchases were a huge hit among users as they snapped items at 50% off and more across top categories like tops, lingerie, pants, jewelry, and hair accessories, among others. Together with great discounts, shoppers also enjoyed a diverse selection of trendy pieces from top fashion brands and sellers like LovitoCrocsINSPI and ABUBOT PH who are among the top 10 best-selling brands that stood out during the 9.9 sale.

Shoppers also took advantage of deals on other best selling categories like cases and covers, tops, skincare, home improvement, and kitchenware–reflecting the diverse interests of consumers and the broad appeal of Shopee’s extensive product range.
