BrightHER Impact was attended by Sun Life Clients and aspiring entrepreneurs as part of Sun Life’s efforts to empower women business owners, providing them with valuable insights and networking opportunities. The informative talks highlighted the following key takeaways:

  1. Consistency is key.

Chef Jeng Flores, known for her delectable desserts, emphasized the importance of consistency in business. In the face of adversity, particularly the pandemic, she remained committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences. She refused to compromise on the quality of her ingredients, ensuring that every product met her standards. “Consistency is the secret ingredient to your business’ success,” Chef Jeng shared.

  1. Build a community of brand advocates.

Jacqe Yuengtian-Gutierrez, the visionary behind Happy Skin, BLK Cosmetics, and Seoul White Korea, highlighted the power of community in building a successful brand. She talked about the importance of nurturing relationships with customers and transforming them into loyal advocates. By prioritizing customer satisfaction and fostering a sense of pride in supporting local businesses, she has cultivated communities that support her brands. “Build with heart, lead with strategy,” advised Jacqe.

  1. Always remember your North Star.

Angeline Tham, the driving force behind ride-hailing app Angkas, stressed the significance of having a clear “North Star” — the guiding purpose that anchors your business. For Angkas, their North Star was improving the experience of Filipino commuters. By staying true to this purpose, Angeline navigated the challenges of building a disruptive business. “All it takes is the willingness to uplift the lives of the people around you,” Angeline stated.

By bringing together successful women entrepreneurs to share their experiences, Sun Life created a platform for inspiration and empowerment. The BrightHER Impact event fostered a sense of community, encouraging attendees to connect, learn from each other, and support one another in the pursuit of their business and personal goals. This serves as a reminder that despite the challenges they are faced with, women can achieve the extraordinary.
